- Air cleaners

Install air cleaners with your heating system so that all conditioned air passes through for contaminant removal. They use advanced filtration and other processes (depending on the type of air cleaner) to eliminate contaminants up to 99.9 percent.

- UV lights

Mold and mildew are a big aggravator of allergies for many across Illinois and Wisconsin. UV lights are installed within your HVAC system to tackle mold and mildew both inside and out. They stop the growth of mold and mildew inside your system, as well as neutralize spores circulating through your home’s air from outdoors or elsewhere in the house.

- Humidifiers

Here in the Mid-West, we live with dry air during the winter. A whole house humidifier helps the furnace by adding humidity and reduces stress on the heating system. It also monitors and controls the amount of humidity in the air, keeping you more comfortable. 

Also, when the humidity is better controlled, you can set the thermostat at a lower temperature! Most customers report a 2 degree drop from their typical setting without sacrificing comfort. Nationally, relative humidity is considered best between 30 and 50 percent. In our climate, however, achievable indoor humidity is closer to 40 percent without adding condensation.

- High efficiency filters

While a furnace filter’s main job is to prevent dirt and dust accumulation inside the system to protect components, they benefit homeowners by also removing contaminants from the air supply. Not all are created equally – you want a filter with a MERV rating of 6  to 12 (depending on many factors) for enhanced airborne contaminant and allergen control in your home. This is considered the most economical upgrade option. However, beware of store purchased universal filters with high merv ratings that are 1" thick as they often starve your furnace of air and put stress on expensive components. High MERV  filters should be properly sized with air flow requirements from your furnaces manufacturer recommendations.
